REVERIES: A SOLO EXHIBITION at TIGER STRIKES ASTERIOD CHICAGO

Kristy Luck: Reveries
December 9, 2017 - January 20, 2018
Opening Reception: Saturday December 9, 2pm-5pm

Chicago, IL, December 10, 2017 – Tiger Strikes Asteroid is pleased to announce “Reveries,” a solo exhibition of paintings by Kristy Luck.

Kristy Luck’s rich, subtly dynamic paintings evoke a mythic symbolism that emerges through intuitive imagination and fluid structure. Approaching representation suggestively, and from personal observation of things close to her everyday experience, the forms display a biomorphic, visceral sensuality. At the same time, her technique involves a quiet, methodical labor that finds movement in softly graded edges, spatial tension, and talismanic, architectural integrity.

FILTERGEIST : A GROUP EXHIBITION at OPEN HOUSE

"Open House is pleased to present FILTERGEIST. This group show marks the debut exhibition at our new location in Bushwick, Brooklyn. In conjunction with Bushwick Open Studios, FILTERGEIST opens on Friday, September 22 from 7-11pm and continues through October 31.

New images have allowed us to perceive visions from behind the mind’s eye. From coast to coast in the U.S.A., artists are inventing ways to depict space. In doing so, they have offered glimpses into the universes they exist in: complex translations of observational painting, alternative realities. FILTERGEIST is like a pair of goggles allowing you to change dimensional channels, inducing tunnel vision into warped spaces. Figures have been squashed and skewed. Objects have been compressed and obliterated. Color profiles have been blown out and hazed in. Spaces have been zapped, twisted, and crushed."
